4-Day Mt Meru Climbing
Overview
Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second highest peak standing at 4566 mt from sea level. Mount Meru is a beautiful mountain, conically shaped volcano located in northern Tanzania in the heart of the Arusha National Park. About one hour and half driving from Arusha town.

Meet your mountain guide at your Hotel in Arusha at 9.30am, drive to Mt. Meru Park gate (Momela), “about one hour driving” where you will meet with our game ranger guide and porters. Hike for 4 hours with picnic lunch to Mariakamba Hut at 8,500 ft. Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba hut.
After breakfast hike 4/5 hours with your picnic lunch to Saddle Hut 11,500 ft, picnic lunch on the way. From here the clients can hike 2 hours to little Mount Meru for a scenic view of the ‘Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.
Have a cup of coffee at 1.00am, and start hike 4.30 hours all the way to the Mount Meru summit, arrive summit at 5.30 waiting sunrise. From the summit, descend back to the Saddle hut 11,500ft for lunch. After lunch descend to the Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast proceed with your morning trekking to Momella gate with lunch en route you have two routes as option.
Route one is a straight descend to Momella gate same way as you went up -3hrs
Route two is a scenic route through the Meru crater down the montage forest ending up at Momella gate -6hrs.
You will be transferred from Momella gate to your hotel, expected to be at hotel around 4pm.
