Day by Day Itinerary
Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be met by your professional driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, take time to rest and freshen up from your journey. In the evening, enjoy a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming safari adventure, including what to expect, wildlife viewing tips, and safety guidelines. Your guide will answer any questions and ensure you're fully prepared for the incredible journey ahead.
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The park is home to over 550 bird species and large populations of elephants, lions, leopards, and buffalo. Enjoy a full day of game drives, with a picnic lunch in the park. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife year-round, making it an excellent location for wildlife photography. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and relaxation.
Journey to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart for the legendary Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive offers spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley and the vast plains. Arrive in the Serengeti in time for an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti is home to millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, along with predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa.
Full Day Serengeti Game Drives
Spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti's diverse habitats through morning and afternoon game drives. The park's vast plains, kopjes (rocky outcrops), and riverine forests each host different wildlife. Search for the Big Five and witness incredible predator-prey interactions. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, one of nature's most spectacular events. Your guide will take you to the best viewing locations based on current wildlife movements.
Deep Serengeti Exploration
Continue your exploration of the Serengeti, venturing into different regions of the park. Each area offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities - from the central Seronera area with its resident predators to the remote northern or western corridors. Your extended time allows for unhurried wildlife observation and photography. Optional activities may include a hot air balloon safari (at additional cost) for a truly unforgettable aerial perspective of the plains.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive takes you through diverse landscapes with opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in time to witness a spectacular sunset over the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy dinner with panoramic views of the crater floor below.
Ngorongoro Crater Full Day Tour
Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game viewing in this natural amphitheater. The crater hosts an estimated 30,000 animals including the Big Five, with one of Africa's highest densities of predators. The enclosed ecosystem means wildlife viewing is almost guaranteed. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool while watching these massive animals. The crater's diverse habitats support a wide variety of species, making every moment of your game drive exciting and rewarding.
Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, travel to Lake Manyara National Park, a beautiful park known for its tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and diverse birdlife. The park's varied habitats include groundwater forests, open grasslands, and the alkaline lake itself. Enjoy afternoon game drives with opportunities to see hippos, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species. The park is particularly beautiful in the afternoon light, offering excellent photography opportunities.
Lake Manyara to Arusha National Park
Visit Arusha National Park, a smaller but incredibly diverse park featuring Mount Meru, Ngurdoto Crater, and Momella Lakes. The park offers excellent walking safari opportunities (with armed rangers) and canoeing on the lakes. Spot giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and numerous bird species. The park's varied landscapes - from montane forest to open grassland - provide unique wildlife viewing experiences. This is one of the few parks where walking safaris are permitted.
Tarangire to Lake Natron
Journey to Lake Natron, a remote and stunning alkaline lake at the base of the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. The lake is famous for being the primary breeding ground for lesser flamingos in East Africa. The area offers incredible landscapes and unique cultural experiences with the Maasai people. Enjoy a guided walk to see the flamingos and explore the surrounding area. The dramatic scenery and remote location make this a truly special experience away from the typical tourist routes.
Tarangire National Park - Extended Stay
Spend additional time in Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's most underrated parks. The park is famous for its massive elephant herds - some of the largest in Africa - and ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape. The Tarangire River attracts wildlife year-round, making it an excellent location for extended game viewing. Your additional time allows for unhurried wildlife observation, photography, and appreciation of this beautiful park's unique character and wildlife.
Cultural Experience - Maasai Village Visit
Take a break from game driving to experience authentic Maasai culture. Visit a traditional Maasai village where you'll learn about their customs, traditions, and way of life. Participate in traditional dances, see how they build their homes, and learn about their relationship with wildlife and the land. This cultural immersion adds depth to your safari experience, providing context for the landscapes and wildlife you've been observing. Support local communities through this responsible tourism experience.
Western Serengeti or Grumeti Extension
Explore the western corridor of the Serengeti or the Grumeti region, areas less visited but rich in wildlife. During migration season (May-July), this area hosts massive wildebeest and zebra herds crossing the Grumeti River - a dramatic spectacle with crocodiles waiting. The region offers excellent game viewing year-round with resident wildlife including large prides of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Your extended safari allows time to reach these remote areas for truly exclusive wildlife experiences.
Northern Serengeti - Migration Crossing
Journey to the northern Serengeti, famous for the dramatic Mara River crossings during the Great Migration (July-October). Witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras braving crocodile-infested waters - one of nature's most spectacular events. Even outside migration season, the northern Serengeti offers excellent game viewing with resident wildlife and beautiful landscapes. The Lobo area and Bologonja Springs provide unique wildlife viewing opportunities in this remote region.

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive or visit to a local market (time permitting) before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
